Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup diced green chilies (optional)

Instructions 

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until bubbly.
  3. Slowly whisk in the milk and cook until slightly thickened.
  4. Add the shredded Monterey Jack cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.
  5. Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
  6. If using, add the diced green chilies and stir to combine.
  7. Serve warm with tortilla chips or as a topping for your favorite dishes.
