Instructions
1. Slice the Vidalia onions thinly and soak them in buttermilk for at least an hour.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
3. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).
4. Dredge the soaked onion slices in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
5. Fry the onion slices in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per batch.
6. Remove the onion straws and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately.
