Ingredients 

Shortcake

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ cup Unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • cup Whole milk

Topping

  • 1 lb Fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoon Granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoon Powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually stir in milk until a soft dough forms. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto a baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool.
  5. In a bowl, mix strawberries with sugar and let sit for 10 minutes.
  6. In another bowl, whip the cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  7. Split shortcakes in half. Top with strawberries and whipped cream. Replace tops and serve.
