- 4 green tomatoes sliced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup vegetable oil for frying
Slice the green tomatoes into ¼ inch thick slices.
In a bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, salt, and pepper.
Dip each tomato slice into buttermilk, then coat with the flour mixture.
Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Fry the tomato slices in the hot oil until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
