  • 1 cup Cornmeal
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Milk
  • ¼ cup Vegetable oil
  • 1 large Egg beaten

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place a cast iron skillet in the oven to heat up.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the milk, vegetable oil, and beaten egg to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.
  4. Carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven. Grease it lightly with oil or butter.
  5. Pour the batter into the hot skillet and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cornbread cool slightly before slicing and serving.
