  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Using a sharp knife, cut an 'X' on the flat side of each chestnut.
  3. Place the chestnuts on a baking sheet, cut side up.
  4. Roast in the oven for 25-30 minutes, until the shells peel back and the nuts are tender.
  5. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before peeling.
