Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 package refrigerated pizza dough
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 10 cups water
  • cup baking soda
  • 1 egg yolk, beaten with 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon coarse salt

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough and cut into 8 strips.
  3. Wrap each hot dog with a strip of dough, pinching the ends to seal.
  4. In a large pot, bring water and baking soda to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer.
  5. Gently lower each wrapped hot dog into the water for 30 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Brush each pretzel dog with the egg yolk mixture and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.
