  • 1 pint fresh oysters
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until soft and translucent.
  2. 2. Add the oysters with their liquor, and cook until the edges of the oysters curl.
  3. 3. Pour in the whole milk and heavy cream. Heat gently, stirring occasionally, until the stew is hot but not boiling.
  4. 4. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
