Ingredients

  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • ¾ cup water
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ cup cornstarch for dusting

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a microwave-safe bowl, mix glutinous rice flour, water, and sugar until smooth.
  2. 2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, leaving a small gap for steam to escape.
  3. 3. Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Stir with a spatula, then microwave for another 1-2 minutes until the mixture is thick and translucent.
  4. 4. Dust a baking sheet with cornstarch. Transfer the mochi dough onto the sheet and let it cool slightly.
  5. 5. Dust your hands with cornstarch and divide the dough into small pieces. Shape each piece into a ball or desired shape.
  6. 6. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.
