Instructions
Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, salt, sugar, oregano, and black pepper.
Bring to a simmer and cook for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Stir in the fresh basil and cook for another 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving.
