- ½ cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- ¼ cup warm water
- 6 large eggs
- ½ cup evaporated milk
- ½ cup butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- Oil for frying
- Extra sugar for coating
Dissolve yeast in warm water with a pinch of sugar. Let it sit until frothy.
In a large bowl, beat eggs, sugar, and evaporated milk together.
Add melted butter, salt, and yeast mixture.
Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Cover and let rise until doubled in size.
Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot.
Scoop dough with a spoon and drop into hot oil.
Fry until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
Roll in sugar while still warm.
