Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb dried split peas
  • 1 cup diced ham
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions 

  1. 1. Set your Instant Pot to sauté mode. Add a bit of oil and sauté the onions and garlic until softened.
  2. 2. Add the carrots and celery, and continue to sauté for another 2-3 minutes.
  3. 3. Add the diced ham, split peas, chicken broth, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  4. 4. Secure the lid on the Instant Pot and set it to high pressure for 15 minutes.
  5. 5. Once the cooking time is up, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then do a quick release for any remaining pressure.
  6. 6. Open the lid and stir the soup. If it's too thick, you can add a bit more broth or water to reach your desired consistency.
  7. 7. Serve hot and enjoy!
