Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 lbs beef chuck, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoon sweet paprika
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 2 large carrots, sliced
  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions 

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pot, add the onions and cook until softened.
  4. Add the garlic, paprika, and caraway seeds. Cook for another minute.
  5. Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Return the beef to the pot and add the beef broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours.
  7. Add the carrots and potatoes. Cook for another 30 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
