Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ham hock
  • 2 cups Dried beans soaked overnight
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Black pepper
  • 6 cups Water

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large pot, combine the ham hock, soaked beans, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper.
  2. 2. Add water to the pot and bring to a boil.
  3. 3. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 2 hours, or until the beans are tender.
  4. 4. Remove the ham hock, shred the meat, and return it to the pot. Discard the bone.
  5. 5. Adjust seasoning if needed and serve hot.
