- 2 cups Rye Flour
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1 tablespoon Caraway Seeds
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 1 packet Active Dry Yeast
- 1 ½ cups Warm Water
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the rye flour, all-purpose flour, caraway seeds, salt, and sugar.
2. Dissolve the yeast in the warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
3. Add the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
7. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
8. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
9. Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing.
