  • 8 soft shell crabs cleaned
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a shallow dish, mix flour, salt, and pepper.
  2. 2. Pour buttermilk into another shallow dish.
  3. 3. In a third dish, place the cornmeal.
  4. 4. Dredge each crab in the flour mixture, then dip in buttermilk, and finally coat with cornmeal.
  5. 5. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  6. 6. Fry crabs until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. 7. Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
