Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2.25 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 cups warm water

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. 2. Gradually add the warm water and mix until a dough forms.
  3. 3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes.
  4. 4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. 5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal parts. Shape each part into a loaf.
  6. 6. Place the loaves on a greased baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. 7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the loaves for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
