Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 4 large Russet potatoes peeled and cut into ½ inch sticks
  • 1 quart Vegetable oil for frying
  • to taste Salt

Instructions 

  1. 1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into ½ inch sticks.
  2. 2. Soak the potato sticks in a large bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes.
  3. 3. Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels.
  4. 4. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer to 325°F (165°C).
  5. 5. Fry the potatoes in batches for about 5 minutes until they are pale and soft. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  6. 6. Increase the oil temperature to 375°F (190°C).
  7. 7. Fry the potatoes again in batches for another 2-3 minutes until they are golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. 8. Season with salt to taste and serve hot.
