Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying

Instructions 

  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together milk and egg. Add to dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  4. Insert skewers into hot dogs. Dip each hot dog into the batter, coating well.
  5. Carefully place battered hot dogs into hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
