Ingredients

  • 1 cup Cornmeal
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 Eggs beaten
  • 8 Hot dogs cut into bite-sized pieces
  • as needed Oil for frying

Instructions 

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add the milk and beaten eggs to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  3. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Insert skewers into the hot dog pieces, dip them into the batter, and carefully place them into the hot oil.
  5. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
