Main Ingredients
- 2 cups pitted cherries fresh or frozen
- ½ cup sugar
- ¼ cup kirsch or brandy
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch optional, for thickening
- 2 tablespoon water if using cornstarch
- 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
1. In a skillet over medium heat, combine cherries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook until cherries release their juices and sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes.
2. If using cornstarch, mix it with water to form a slurry. Add to the skillet and cook until the sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.
3. Remove the skillet from heat and add the kirsch or brandy. Carefully ignite with a lighter or match to flambé. Let the flames subside.
4. Serve the cherries and sauce over scoops of vanilla ice cream.
