Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups chickpeas, cooked or 1 can, drained and rinsed
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder adjust to taste
  • 1 cup water
  • to taste salt
  • 2 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish

Instructions 

  1. 1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
  2. 2. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. 3. Stir in the garlic and ginger, and cook for another minute.
  4. 4. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
  5. 5. Mix in the ground coriander, turmeric, garam masala, and chili powder. Cook for a couple of minutes.
  6. 6. Add the cooked chickpeas and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
  7. 7. Season with salt to taste. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
