Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 4 lbs Beef short ribs
  • 2 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1 large Onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 1 cup Red wine
  • 2 tablespoon Tomato paste
  • 2 sprigs Thyme
  • 2 sprigs Rosemary
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Season the short ribs with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Brown the short ribs on all sides, then remove and set aside.
  4. Add the chopped onion to the pot and cook until softened. Add the garlic and cook for another minute.
  5. Stir in the tomato paste, then add the red wine. Let it simmer for a few minutes to reduce slightly.
  6. Return the short ribs to the pot and add the beef broth, thyme, and rosemary. Bring to a simmer.
  7. Cover the pot and transfer to the preheated oven. Cook for about 3 hours, or until the meat is tender and falling off the bone.
  8. Remove the short ribs from the pot and skim any excess fat from the surface of the sauce. Serve the short ribs with the sauce spooned over the top.
