Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon Butter
  • 2 tablespoon All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Milk preferably warm
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Ground white pepper
  • to taste Ground nutmeg optional

Instructions 

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the flour and whisk continuously for about 1-2 minutes, until it forms a smooth paste and starts to bubble.
  3. Gradually add the warm milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
  4. Continue to cook and whisk until the sauce thickens and comes to a boil.
  5. Season with salt, white pepper, and nutmeg if using. Serve warm.
