Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • cup shortening
  • ¾ cup milk

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gradually add milk, stirring until the dough pulls away from the side of the bowl.
  5. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently 8-10 times.
  6. Roll or pat the dough to ½ inch thickness. Cut with a floured biscuit cutter.
  7. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
