Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoon peanut butter
  • 1 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions 

  1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the garlic, chili powder, cumin, and cinnamon. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, peanut butter, and chopped chocolate. Cook until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.
  4. Gradually add the chicken broth, stirring constantly. Bring to a simmer and cook for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  5. Season with salt to taste. Blend the sauce until smooth using a blender or immersion blender. Serve warm.
