Ingredients 

Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • ½ cup green olives, chopped
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • 2 hard-boiled eggs, chopped

Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • cup cold water

Instructions 

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. 2. In a skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add onion and garlic, cook until softened.
  3. 3. Stir in cumin, paprika, oregano, olives, and raisins. Cook for another 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Stir in chopped eggs.
  4. 4. For the dough, combine flour and salt in a bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add water, mixing until dough forms.
  5. 5. Roll out dough on a floured surface. Cut into circles. Place filling in the center of each circle. Fold dough over and seal edges.
  6. 6. Place empanadas on a baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
