  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 cup grated cheese (queso blanco or mozzarella)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon butter for cooking

Instructions 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, warm water, cheese, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  2. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape them into patties.
  3. Heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat and add butter.
  4. Cook the arepas for about 5-7 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through.
